Improving Social Mobility with Career Ready

Career Ready is a national social mobility charity, that believes every young person deserves the opportunity to kickstart a rewarding future. Young people from the most challenging backgrounds, are supported with masterclasses, networking, skills, workplace visits, mentoring and paid internships to help them aspire for the their future careers and be prepared for the world of work.

Career Ready was founded in 2002 by leading business figures with a mission: to boost social mobility by empowering young people and giving their talents a platform to flourish.

Since then Career Ready has grown across the UK and reached 200,000 young people, including supporting 30,000 on our high-impact, Career Ready post-16 programme.

Over the last 20 years, a network of 1,000 employer supporters and 3,500 volunteers annually has been built, who deliver a range of high-quality, careers focused programmes in 400 schools and colleges.

Career Ready was shortlisted at the 2020 and 2021 Charity Times Awards for ‘Charity of the Year’ and won ‘Corporate Partnership of the Year’ in 2020 for our work with Citi.

Mary has been involved since 2013 and is a now a trustee.
